SpaceX's Starfall sells orbital factory space: 1,000 kg payload, always-on Starlink
heyshrutimishra · x · 2026-11-04
SpaceX has listed Starfall, a service selling factory space in orbit. A disc-shaped capsule carries up to 1,000 kg of payload, provides 1 kW of power and an ethernet interface, stays connected over Starlink throughout the flight, and splashes down with the cargo. The always-on link lets researchers pull experiment data while still in orbit. Pitched at drug discovery (protein crystals form smaller and more uniform in microgravity), stem-cell organoids, and next-gen materials. Drop towers give seconds of microgravity; Starfall promises weeks, with Starship enabling scalable launch cadence. No pricing or first flight date yet.
