Monomem: open-source MCP memory server with provenance stamps and injection linter
Mother-Side6477 · reddit · 2026-11-04
The author shares Monomem, an open-source (MIT) MCP memory store that multiple clients share, focused on knowing who wrote what:
- MCP over stdio and HTTP, plus a REST API and small dashboard on the same store
- Ten default tools (write, read, search, relevant, list, delete, catchup, plus a preview/confirm/undo flow for replacing memories) to avoid flooding context windows
- writtenby is stamped server-side from the auth token; scoped read/write/admin tokens can be pinned to one namespace per agent
- A write-time linter blocks secrets and quarantines prompt-injection text
- Version history per note (default 20, up to 500)
npx monomem setup wires up Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, VS Code, Zed and Muse with backup and undo. Node 22.16+. Built with Claude's help; author solicits design feedback.
