OpenAI says ChatGPT search volume now equals 20% of Google's
The Verge AI · rss · 2026-11-04
OpenAI's consumer product lead for ChatGPT, Adam Fry, announced at a press event that ChatGPT's search query volume now equals 20% of Google's. OpenAI defines a search as a query that triggers a web search (excluding definitions or simple how-tos), and Fry did not specify the source of the Google figure. It's still far from overtaking Google, but "Ask Chat" has replaced "Google it" in many circles.
