Anthropic ships Enterprise-Managed Authorization: IdPs take over MCP access control
ClaudeDevs · x · 2026-11-04
Anthropic introduced Enterprise-Managed Authorization (EMA), built on an open MCP extension, letting admins connect plugins for an entire organization through their identity provider so members don't individually authorize each MCP server.
Per the MCP docs, the per-user authorization model creates friction and security gaps in enterprises: security teams can't enforce consistent policies, onboarding means manually authorizing dozens of services, and offboarding requires revoking access one by one. EMA makes the organization's IdP the authoritative decision-maker, with IT/security managing access policies centrally.
