Sentry CEO: if you can't design a system without an LLM, you can't design one with it
zeeg · x · 2026-11-04
Sentry CEO David Cramer doubles down on his controversial take, clarifying he was exaggerating but standing by the core point: if you can't design a system without an LLM, you can't design one with it.
He criticizes what he calls a mass psychosis among developers — treating inference spend as a crutch for missing design skills ("sorry I need another $100k of inference to build that registration form"). In his view, if designing systems is your job, you don't get to call a snow day because you can't prompt a token predictor.
