OpenAI partners with Cathedral Systems, quadruples bug bounty to $172,000

OpenAI announced a partnership with Cathedral Systems, the cybersecurity startup founded by former DOGE staffers who recently gained notoriety for hacking Anthropic's Slack. Cathedral researchers will use OpenAI's models alongside internal teams in the next security sprint to challenge OpenAI's defenses. OpenAI is also raising bug bounty rewards — more than quadrupling payouts for critical findings, with exceptional ones eligible for up to $172,000 including bonuses. The company argues that as AI gets better at finding vulnerabilities, defenders must deploy it before attackers do.
