Anthropic filing: internal AI spend now exceeds employee payroll; Claude Code writes 90% of new code
xiaohu · x · 2026-11-03
According to Anthropic's disclosed IPO filing, the market-value cost of the company's internal AI model usage has surpassed total employee cash payroll: as early as April, the book value of internal Claude API calls crossed that month's labor cost, and internal AI consumption grew over 250x from January to September.
Another data point: as of September, more than 90% of newly written code in the Claude Code system was produced by AI, with human employees focused on review, architecture, and business decisions.
The author reads this as tech shifting from a talent-intensive to a compute-intensive era, where competitive ceiling depends on how deeply AI is embedded in daily code, operations, and decisions.
