Free map infers what every building in 77 cities is used for, built with Claude Code

Reddit user Osyanne built a free map that shows what every building in a city is used for — homes by density, shops, offices, industry, parking — all inferred by rules from OpenStreetMap, so it works even where no official zoning data exists. It covers 77 cities in 31 countries, and anyone can draw a box to request theirs.
- See a city block by block: density, parking deserts, office clusters.
- In Minneapolis you can overlay it on the 2040 plan to see where reality and the plan disagree; parks, schools, hospitals, roads and transit included.
- Started as a Cities: Skylines 2 tool: export any area and trace a real city in-game.
- Accuracy vs property records: 81% of homes correct in Philadelphia, 67% in New York; it's a reference, not official zoning.
- The whole project, including the video's 3D render, was built with Claude Code. Code is MIT-licensed; next step is a self-serve generator for any city.
