Solo dev built a playable horror level in 4 days with Opus 5.5 + Godot

A solo developer with 3D experience but limited programming knowledge built a playable horror level inspired by Silent Hill and Fatal Frame in four days, with zero manual code edits.
Toolchain
- Code: Claude Opus 5.5 via Claude Desktop Code mode (Auto) — it edited files, launched Godot, took screenshots, and iterated on results, handling large structures and prop placement.
- 3D assets: Nano Banana generated images of 10 props per batch, Meshy T2.5 Low Poly converted them to lightweight models, Blender for splitting before Godot import. Each batch shared one material and one texture atlas; 100 props across 10 batches kept the scene efficient.
- Engine: Godot 4.5.1; visual direction came from Pinterest references.
Costs
- Claude Pro subscription; $90 estimated API-equivalent value for the core build, $180 including later experiments.
The author highlights the loop of describing an idea, letting Opus build it, then jumping in to arrange assets — by day two the level already looked like the final video.
