RVCBench from UBC & Vector Institute stress-tests 18 voice cloning models across 18 robustness evaluations

UBC and Vector Institute researchers introduce RVCBench (accepted to NeurIPS 2026), a systematic benchmark for voice cloning robustness across the full pipeline.
- Scale: 18 open-source models, 18 robustness evaluations, 204 unique speakers, and 14,370 utterance-level items — spanning reference audio, text prompts, long-form and multilingual generation, compression, and audio perturbations.
- Failure modes differ: content accuracy, speaker similarity, and naturalness move independently; long-form generation and noisy or competing-speaker references expose weaknesses hidden by clean-condition rankings. Model size shows no simple monotonic relationship with robustness.
- Protection vs. recovery: the benchmark separates proactive perturbation defenses (SPEC, SafeSpeech, etc.) from denoising-based recovery, and also probes post-processing resilience (MP3/AAC/Opus) and deepfake detectability.
The accompanying figure lays out the full evaluation framework: input robustness (reference audio/text shifts), generation robustness (codec LM, diffusion, hybrid), and output robustness.
