Open-source herdr desktop app: every UI part is a file your agent can edit
philipvollet · x · 2026-11-03
- Developer cauldr0nx released a new open-source (Apache-2.0) version of herdr: a rewritten herdr-core plus a desktop app built on it, where "every part of the software is a file your agent can change — you just ask."
- A user already built herdr-empires, an Age of Empires-themed skin: workspaces become towns, agents become villagers who gather resources while working, raise a "?" when they need you and show a "✓" when done; towns grow with each repo's commits and age.
- Install: clone the repo to /.local/share/herdr-empires and run tools/install.sh install --switch; click a villager to open a small terminal window and interact with that agent.
