LangChain on late-2026 context engineering: browser use, long-term goals, async work
hwchase17 · x · 2026-11-03
hwchase17 (LangChain founder) publishes "New context engineering challenges in late 2026": everyone is converging on the same agent architecture — an LLM in a loop, calling tools, running in a sandbox, with Claude Code as its first high-profile manifestation. Many context engineering problems now have standard solutions, leading some engineers to call agent engineering solved or boring.
But new challenges are emerging as agents evolve: browser use, long-term goal tracking, and async work, per LangChain's sydneyrunkle. Old but good primitives — skills, tool search, summarization — still form the foundation.
