SlideSense, a free open-source trackpad edge slider app for macOS, goes MIT-licensed
jasonkneen · x · 2026-11-03
Developer shashvat1965's macOS app EdgeBar/SlideSense got 200+ orders on its first day on Reddit. It turns the left and right edges of a MacBook trackpad into volume and brightness sliders, with media control, haptic feedback, a native menu bar app and a Liquid Glass HUD.
The project is now MIT-licensed open source (macOS 13+) as a free alternative to paid apps — the reposter notes the feature can be rebuilt in 20 minutes with open source.
