Restoring 1970 Super 8 Footage with Topaz Astra in Adobe Firefly: A 4-Step Workflow
Beatlejase · x · 2026-11-03
The author restored his dad's Super 8 footage from New York (circa 1970) using the Topaz Astra upscaler inside Adobe Firefly — the result looks like it was shot today with a '1970s' effect added, thanks to cleanup/restoration during upscaling.
Workflow:
- Add the clip, select Upscale
- Choose Precise mode so nothing gets invented
- Pick Quality and 1080p (up to 4K)
- Generate and compare before/after
Notably, Precise cleaned up the footage without making it feel like someone else's footage — it still feels like his dad's camera.
