Tutor Intelligence deploys AI robots in US factories, humans tutor them remotely
a16z · x · 2026-11-02
a16z podcast with Tutor Intelligence co-founder and CEO Josh Gruenstein, whose company puts AI robots to work in American factories and warehouses on hard-to-hire physical jobs. Tutor builds robots in Massachusetts and charges hourly with no upfront cost; when the AI gets stuck, a human "tutor" takes over and teaches the task, generating training data along the way. Topics include going from first sales call to working robot in 3 months, why many robot startups died building for a single customer, why robot companies go vertical, and why anyone will be able to start a physical-world business.
