Sebastian Raschka has released a free full video course, Build Your Own Reasoning Model, on his Ahead of AI substack: 8 coding videos and over 11 hours, all implemented from scratch in Python and PyTorch.
The course starts from a pre-trained LLM and covers four core topics:
- Evaluation of reasoning ability
- Inference-time scaling
- Reinforcement learning
- Distillation
It's the sequel to his Coding LLMs from the Ground Up course, but doesn't require the earlier course as a prerequisite. He also includes a section on how reasoning models relate to today's AI agents, and says LLM research roundups will resume next month.
