ChatGPT and Codex to share one token allowance from December, sparking user backlash

OpenAI's help docs confirm that starting in December, Plus/Pro/Business usage allowances will be shared across ChatGPT and Codex as Work's agentic capabilities merge into the main ChatGPT experience.
- Usage is measured in tokens; consumption depends on model choice and task complexity, with complex agentic tasks burning allowance faster. Instant chat won't count.
- Codex users used to generous separate limits are upset that long coding sessions, file uploads, and agentic work now draw from the same pool as regular chats.
- Hitting the cap means waiting for reset, upgrading, or buying credits; combined remaining usage is visible in Settings → Usage.
