antirez: have agents build a dedicated test suite before starting a code port
antirez · x · 2026-11-01
Responding to mitsuhiko's thread on the value of test suites in code ports, antirez argues you're better off asking an agent to build a monumental test suite before starting the port. Since you know the fragile spots, giving targeted hints about the testing you want makes the agent perform much better, and the port then starts on better rails. Mitsuhiko's original point: pre-existing tests are often bad for hill climbing, so agent-built suites tailored to the port are more useful.
