dfinke · x · 2026-11-01
Developer dfinke replies to @AndyLeonard's AI coding journey, sharing his own timeline: things changed back in 2023 when OpenAI shipped function calling, which transformed what you could build. He also credits OpenAI and Anthropic engineers who generously answered his DMs.
Studying how engineers crafted prompts — before "prompt engineering" or "steering" were even terms — convinced him early on this was going somewhere big.
