OpenAI's chat-and-work merger ends all-you-can-prompt pricing in December
The Decoder · rss · 2026-11-01
Per The Decoder, OpenAI is merging Chat and Work modes into a single ChatGPT interface, signaling the end of all-you-can-prompt pricing. From December, Plus, Pro, and Business plans will share a common token-based quota covering both ChatGPT and Codex: complex models burn more of the quota while simple instant chats don't count. The upshot: heavy users on cheaper plans will likely see a decline in perceived ChatGPT quality.
- Shared token quota spans chat and coding (Codex)
- Model choice now directly affects how fast quota runs out
- Effectively a usage-cap change for existing subscribers
