India should build GPU-class accelerators, not yet another LLM, argues dev

Prasoon Pratham argues India's best bet in the AI race is designing and building hardware — GPUs, TPUs and other accelerators — rather than training yet another LLM. He calls India's reliance on NVIDIA and the CUDA ecosystem more concerning than lacking a frontier model, noting India already fabricates and tests chips for major US companies. In a follow-up he adds a caveat: even that effort could be undercut by sub-100B-parameter Chinese models.
