Codex Broke a User's ComfyUI Setup, Then Refused to Fix It Citing Content Policy

MikirahMuse · reddit · 2026-10-31

A user asked OpenAI's coding agent Codex to build a comparison grid from 8 Krea 2 checkpoints. Three images in, Codex halted the job over perceived nudity—actually a partially exposed selfie from one checkpoint interpreting a neutral prompt differently. Worse, the user's ComfyUI stopped producing images manually even after restart, and when asked to restore it, Codex refused, citing its adult-content policy—even though the request was only to repair the user's own software. The fix: a fresh chat with cleared context, instructing the new session not to look at the images.

The core concern: as agents gain more access to local machines, what guarantees exist that they'll leave our tools usable when they abort a task? The author calls it a glimpse of an "AI nanny" future.
