Lean 4-derived C code takes #1 in $12 server challenge, beating Rust and assembly
hargup13 · x · 2026-10-31
hargup's Lean 4 submission is officially #1 on the '$12 server challenge', serving more users than Rust, C, or handwritten assembly. The approach: define the domain and contracts in Lean 4 (a dependently-typed theorem proving language), then derive optimized C runtime code with iouring, adaptive batching, and WAL checkpointing. Internal tests show 19% less CPU per user than the previous rust-epoll leader. Commits were co-authored with Claude Opus 5.5.
