Scoble on robot intimacy: chores and hugs yes, sex with hard metallic machines no
Scobleizer · x · 2026-10-31
Tech blogger Robert Scoble recounts hearing people in an X Spaces discussion talk about having sex with their humanoid robots — something he can't fathom, given they're "very heavy, very metallic, very hard, with cameras and a database." He'd rather have a humanoid do chores so he and his wife of 24 years can enjoy each other's company. What he does find plausible is emotional companionship: after seeing Andrej Karpathy and dozens of others hug the 1X NEO at its launch, he can imagine coming home after a rough day for a hug or a couch cuddle. He notes the sex topic comes up so often on Spaces that something in the human mind clearly wants it.
