One prompt: Claude builds a 2,616-line disassemblable robot octopus in three.js
jnack · x · 2026-10-31
A user turned a single robot-octopus picture into a fully disassemblable 3D simulation with one prompt to Claude (rumored Opus 5.5). Key build details: the image defined the look with every petal, lens and link written as three.js code; the model rendered stills and fixed gaps for 3 rounds before animating; after a toy-like first pass it self-revised to pack 202 links and 480 wheels into 8 arms; each arm is one draw call, posed per-frame by walking its chain of bends; something actuates every 2-3 seconds, and at 0:16 the whole thing explodes on a 330° turntable and reassembles. Result: 25 seconds, 2,616 lines of code. Linked article shares the free Claude skill and all 9 prompts to build disassemblable 3D machine simulators.
