FlowSense MCP lets Claude Code inspect and firewall your Mac's network traffic locally

hani_q · reddit · 2026-10-31

Developer haniq launched FlowSense, a Mac network monitor and firewall with an MCP server that works with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, and Cursor. The MCP listens on localhost only behind its own token; classification happens on-device by reading handshakes (no traffic decryption), naming 800+ apps and services.

Tools include queryflows/usagereport/usageseries for inspecting connections and bandwidth over time, setaccessrule/setshaper/setpolicyrule to block or throttle apps, hostnames, or categories, and policystatus/rollbackpolicy for inspecting and rolling back changes. Ask things like "what uploaded the most in the last hour?" Write access requires a licence; every change is reversible.

Apple Silicon, macOS 14+, closed source. 7-day full trial without a card; $29 one-time until Nov 9, then $49 per Mac. Downloads and payments blocked in the EU/UK and adjacent countries.
