Google's New /goto Anti-Bot Delay Hits SERP-Reselling Agent Search Firms
jobergum · x · 2026-10-31
A developer found that Google's new /goto mechanism adds 2s per URL: opening all links from a fresh SERP triggers escalating "Verifying your request" pages (3s, 5s, 7s… 83s for the 51st link); waiting 3 minutes after the SERP lets them all resolve at once.
Jo Kristian Bergum notes that 40% of "web search for agents" companies simply resell scraped Google SERPs, and this change is a bad day for them. He invites anyone interested to help build an independent web-scale index.
