A Google team (Samuel Schmidgall et al.) introduces new work training Gemini with multi-turn RL in simulated psychiatric encounters, targeting the domain's twin challenges of systematic history-taking and interpersonal trust.
In a double-blind study with 32 psychiatrists role-playing patients, simulation RL significantly improved Gemini's performance on structured text-based psychiatric intake. This kicks off a thread covering safety metrics, expert validation, and rater-agreement findings.
