arXiv moderator: submission surge causes months-long holds, new moderators wanted
tdietterich · x · 2026-10-31
Responding to complaints about long hold delays, arXiv moderator Thomas Dietterich said the problem stems from a huge increase in submission rates and a shortage of moderators. He is openly recruiting: anyone with 10+ years of research experience interested in moderating can DM him.
This followed researcher Amr Sobhy's complaint that nearly every submission gets held automatically and takes months to clear, defeating the point of preprints.
