Element Forge: open-source editable AI VFX for real footage in ComfyUI
zitroffell · reddit · 2026-10-30
Built for the Open Source Higgsfield challenge, Element Forge generates VFX (e.g. flames) with LTX-2.5, tracks them through real footage, handles foreground occlusion, and adds scene lighting. Its key feature is post-generation editability: tweak light, glow and color, combine effects, or export scene-linear EXR passes for further compositing. It ships as a guided ComfyUI app plus node workflow, is open source with open weights, runs locally (tested on an 11GB RTX 2080 Ti). The author, from an art direction/VFX background, is seeking feedback from compositors and motion designers.
