Aula: open-source study app runs entirely on local models via Ollama and llama.cpp
astrolafi · reddit · 2026-10-30
Aula is a free, open-source study app that runs entirely on local models (llama.cpp, Ollama, LM Studio). Feed it notes, slides and past exams and it builds a course: short lessons, auto-graded practice problems, flashcards and a mock exam, spread out until your test date.
Notable features:
- Read-only login to Canvas / Moodle / Blackboard / Classroom / Teams to pull files and due dates
- Chat to schedule: "I have an English test Monday at 10" sets up calendar and course
- A tutor gives hints instead of answers
Works on Mac, Windows and Linux; supports Claude/ChatGPT subscriptions, API keys, or free local models.
