Massive optimization PR author fires back: splitting them is hard too
jmschreiber91 · x · 2026-10-30
In the debate over AI-generated large-scale optimization PRs, the author responds that giant PRs are problematic, but flooding a repo with a dozen small ones is too — and the improvements build on each other in ways that aren't cleanly separable. He says his goal is faster code for the community, preferably merged in the original authors' repo, and welcomes process suggestions. Critics earlier argued every claim and test in such PRs needs validation and will likely only be cherry-picked.
