arthurcolle · x · 2026-10-30
Binance's initial investigation into its security incident points to a compromised DevOps engineer's laptop that let an attacker access a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawals, with an estimated total impact of around $6.3B. Binance says there's no evidence of wallet private key leakage, $3B in assets have been frozen on-chain, and all losses will be covered by the SAFU fund and company funds. A detailed technical post-mortem is planned.
