CVPR's new prior-work rule for arXiv preprints sparks fairness debate among researchers
CSProfKGD · x · 2026-10-30
A discussion among academics over a CVPR policy change: preprints that were on arXiv before Sept. 15 but not yet published now count as prior work that submissions must be compared against.
@fuxinli2 argues this is a big departure from previous CVPRs and unfair to authors whose papers are under review but who chose not to post on arXiv, suggesting preprints and formally published papers (submitted at least half a year earlier) should be treated differently.
