Indie dev builds Backscroll: a steerable Twitter/IG feed reranked by dirt-cheap decision models

Developer sdand released Backscroll, a personal agent that scrolls your feeds for you and makes the Twitter/Instagram timeline steerable.
- How it works: a logged-in browser continuously scrapes his home timelines, plus historical likes/bookmarks, and feeds everything to an LLM. A rubric evolves as he spends a few hours a week labeling tweets good/bad and leaving comments; a rubric generator updates the scoring accordingly.
- Cost math: even scrolling 24/7 you'd read under 200k tokens a day — a few dollars with a frontier model, and a fraction of a cent when reranking thousands of times with a cheap decision model.
- Steering UI: a color-palette mood board (screenshot) lets you slide between Learn / Catch up / Delight to reshape the generated feed, with options like preferring unseen, information-dense posts.
- Motivation is a social argument: short-form video and AI slop are detaching people from reality, and he wants AI to filter noise instead of feeding it.
