text2cypher: Open-Source Library Validates LLM-Generated Cypher Against Live Graph Schema
JeremyCMorgan · x · 2026-10-30
Open-source text2cypher (Apache-2.0) turns natural-language questions into validated, read-only Cypher queries against FalkorDB graphs.
How it works:
- An LLM writes the Cypher query;
- cypher-guardrail validates it against the live graph schema;
- Errors are looped back to the model for retry until the query passes.
It returns one of three explicit statuses: valid, unanswerable, or failed. The author notes most demos hallucinate a label and crash — this library treats failure as a first-class status. Includes evals, examples, and docs at text2cypher.readthedocs.io.
