Microsoft returns to bond market seeking $25B+; AI debt wave lifts borrowing costs for all
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-10-29
Per Bloomberg, Microsoft is tapping the US bond market for the first time since its $17B sale in 2017, issuing at least $25B across up to 10 tranches.
Despite its stronger AAA rating, Microsoft's 40-year note is priced near Alphabet's and Amazon's long bonds — a sign the flood of AI debt is raising borrowing costs across the board.
Hyperscalers and data center developers have sold over $313B of investment-grade bonds this year, nearly 3x 2025's total, pushing global bond issuance to a record $6.61T.
