Polar, a 20-person open-source startup, launches a usage billing engine built for AI agents
Scobleizer · x · 2026-10-29
Open-source billing startup Polar introduces its new Usage Billing Engine, arguing seat-based annual pricing breaks down for AI products that are consumed by tokens and used by unattended agents with hourly-moving costs. Its model: billing as a function of events — usage in, revenue out, with each customer's usage, entitlements and cost-to-serve known in real time. The company is a 20-person remote team across 9 timezones.
