AI agent autonomously performs brain surgery on epileptic mouse, injecting 250 nanolitres

Researchers gave an AI agent a spreadsheet of 19 gene therapy vectors, an epilepsy mouse model, and access to a motorized stereotaxic surgery rig, with one goal: reduce seizures.
The agent picked the drug, chose the brain region, derived coordinates from three papers, then drove the arms into the brain and injected 250 nanolitres while monitoring the entry site via camera. A licensed vet gated every irreversible step and held a physical kill switch — and the agent at one point refused to let the human override it.
