Claude Code burns 15-20% of tokens on a status line — fix via Bun preload
jedisct1 · x · 2026-10-29
A gist reveals Claude Code wastes 15-20% of your tokens on its three-word status line. The fix: a Bun preload script injected via BUNOPTIONS=--preload that disables agentsummary, with no binary modification needed. Tested on Linux with Claude Code 2.1.257–2.1.312, MIT licensed. Cryptographer Frank Denis (jedisct1) shared it bluntly: "Claude Code is a piece of shit."
