Unmix v0.2.0 adds post-edit checkpoints and a real Codex MCP pilot; Git still 27% faster

The maintainer released Unmix v0.2.0, an experimental MIT-licensed local Git task ledger/MCP server that reconstructs recorded work in a separate worktree when an earlier task is removed. Development used Codex assistance.
- Post-edit checkpoints: each completed chunk now initializes on a clean base, edits normally, then takes a title — addressing feedback that upfront recording was too heavy; task boundaries still need to be deliberate, with no automatic dependency inference
- New regression test: catches a retained consumer reading a file created by a removed task without declaring that dependency — patches apply, but the runtime check fails and verification stays failed
- Real Codex pilot: ran actual Codex repairs on staged changes in an existing ZipTrial repo via both Unmix MCP and plain Git; both passed 17 retained tests and a five-case CLI oracle. Reconstruction stages took 67.094s for Unmix vs 48.425s for Git — Git was faster
- The author stresses this is a single maintainer pilot, not a controlled benchmark, and asks whether the single post-edit checkpoint makes small real-project trials practical
