Splat Edit Engine open-sourced: remove, replace and extract objects in Gaussian Splat scenes
Burgstall · reddit · 2026-10-29
A developer open-sourced SpEdE (Splat Edit Engine), a ComfyUI tool for editing Gaussian Splatting scenes:
- Remove: holes are filled with real Gaussians fitted against all capture cameras, so they hold up from any orbit angle
- Replace: text prompt (optionally with a reference image) → Qwen-Image generates it → TripoSplat converts to Gaussians → placed on the surface where the old object was
- Extract: export the object as a clean standalone PLY
Everything runs locally in ComfyUI with open weights: SAM 3.1, Qwen-Image 2.1, MoGe-3 and TripoSplat, plus a small web UI to avoid manual graph wiring. AGPL licensed. Caveats: tested only on Ubuntu with RTX 5090, gsplat needs compiling against your torch/CUDA, Windows untested, and under 32 GB VRAM workflows likely need tuning.
