Stack Overflow launches Scopes: permission-governed knowledge spaces for AI agents
pchandrasekar · x · 2026-10-29
Stack Overflow's October Stack Internal release introduces Scopes, permission-governed knowledge spaces that give teams and AI agents focused context without unauthorized exposure, plus an out-of-the-box GitHub connector, service accounts, and new expert validation tools.
The product targets knowledge scattered across chat threads and repos: reducing confidently wrong AI outputs, stopping experts from repeating answers, and saving time and tokens otherwise wasted on context hunting.
MCP and API integrations let external AI tools read trusted knowledge and feed decisions back, forming a continuous team memory loop.
