YC-backed Simantic launches AI firmware code review that simulates hardware inside GitHub PRs
ycombinator · x · 2026-10-29
- YC-backed Simantic launched Simantic Bot, an AI code reviewer for firmware targeting bugs general reviewers miss: ISR and peripheral timing issues, and runtime memory problems.
- The key idea: give AI the ability to actually run firmware in simulation. In each PR it builds the firmware, runs it on virtual MCUs (e.g. STM32F072RB), designs test scenarios from the diff (sensor inputs, wireless comms, UART output), and posts one review covering what it tested, what it found, and suggested fixes.
- Cloud Sim provides virtual microcontrollers runnable from CI/CD, terminal, or MCP — letting AI agents test the firmware code they write. The team says the simulation engine is validated against real silicon with reproducible tests.
