GitHub Universe unveils Copilot Automations, Fusion, Projects and Memory & dreaming

A GitHub employee shared the company's GitHub Universe 2026 announcements, showcasing several new Copilot product lines:
- Copilot Automations: preset automation workflows like daily issue triage (reviewing new issues and proposing priorities/owners), merge summaries, and PR readiness checks on Daily/Weekly cadences
- Copilot Fusion: a quality/effort switch with Standard / High / Max optimization levels
- Copilot Projects: a project management workspace with conversational entry points like "plan a project with me", integrating Automations and customization panels
- Copilot Memory & dreaming: repository-level memory plus "Repository Dream runs" that keep running customization tasks in the background and can produce completed pull requests
The updates push Copilot further from coding assistant toward an automation agent platform.
