Stanford prof pushes back on banning AI in peer review: lazy reviewers were always lazy
anshulkundaje · x · 2026-10-28
Stanford professor Anshul Kundaje joined the debate on AI-assisted peer review. Responding to concerns that AI-only review would trap academia in an 'innovation valley', he argued that banning AI in review is backwards — lazy reviewers have always been lazy, and human review quality at journals and conferences has long been highly variable. He favors augmenting reviewers' own work with AI rather than prohibiting it.
