Jay Kreps: '1000x smarter than humans' is a crutch we no longer need
JosephJacks_ · x · 2026-10-30
Confluent CEO Jay Kreps argues that talk of something "1,000x smarter than a human" is undefined and possibly impossible, whereas lots of smart humans are definitely possible — and even that would be crazy. The superintelligence framing was a crutch from when AI barely existed; we no longer need it. JosephJacks counters that the AI-pilled crowd still poorly defines "smart" and "intelligence."
