QNX president John Wall told Yahoo Finance that the BlackBerry subsidiary, whose foundational software already runs in millions of vehicles, is expanding into robotics, industrial automation, medical devices, and physical AI.
QNX builds an OS-like layer between chips and application software, designed for mission-critical, functionally safe uses like steering/braking control and turbine blade pitch. Those safety certifications position it for safety-critical physical AI domains including aerospace and defense. The software business reportedly expects $1.2 billion in future revenue.
