Ghostty author dismantles vibe coder's 'faster terminal' claim: it parses only ~1% of incoming data

A vibe coder claimed their new terminal was 'faster than everyone's.' Ghostty author Mitchell Hashimoto grabbed the source and immediately found the flaw: the read loop overwrites a 64 KiB ring, discarding older data unparsed — at the claimed rate about 6.6 MB arrives per 60 Hz tick and only 64 KiB gets parsed. It's reading 100% of data and emulating about 1% of it, so the benchmark number isn't real throughput. Other issues include a tiny fixed scrollback, no grapheme clustering, and dropped OSC 8 URIs.
