Ex-Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger bets on Nagare Labs' Z2RAM to vault the memory wall

Former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger is backing Nagare Labs, a startup from Georgia Tech researchers that just emerged from stealth with Z2RAM — an oxide-semiconductor memory offering near-SRAM speed at near-DRAM density, made with a NAND-like process in foundry BEOL without EUV. Gelsinger argues memory has seen no major innovation in three decades and HBM's power/density/bandwidth limits leave room for Z2RAM. Context: capacitor thickness now limits DRAM scaling, and SK Hynix expects memory shortages to persist until 2030. The Register notes memory tech history is littered with failures.
